CHURCHFIELD OPEN SPACE

SUMMER 2017 NEWSLETTER

NEW PLAY PANELS INSTALLED

6 New Play Panels have been installed in the enclosed Play Area. These proved to be a big hit with the children even before they had been fixed!! Whilst providing fun they also help to improve motor and cognitive skills for youngsters of all abilities and the Finger Maze is particularly good for children with sight impairment. Huge thanks to the Local Community and the Ward Committee who funded this latest project.

DOG FIELD

Members of the Committee had a meeting with Yorkshire Tree Surgeons and in the Autumn further Copse thinning will be undertaken.

Some new native species trees will also be

planted on the field

WILLOW GARTH

Many thanks go to Andy Mullholland and children of the Wild Gardening Club from Headlands Primary School, who came and planted some willow whips which are now growing well. They also returned at a later date to plant native bluebells, primrose, snowdrops and wild rose to encourage greater biodiversity on this site.

 ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR;  WHY???

In April we had our Tower System vandalised, it cost £500 to repair the damage. If you witness any incidents of ASB please report them to the police on the 101 number.(They may take a while to answer so please be patient)
